Shabbat services at Congregation Shir Shalom are filled with music and ruach (spirit), and are a celebration of Jewish life and our community. After the business of the week, we come together to pray, sing, share, learn, and socialize. Whether we join together to celebrate a lifecycle event, to remember the death of a loved one, or simply to connect with our tradition and friends, Shabbat allows us to reflect and relax, and challenge and inspire our souls. Our services are filled with Jewish music that ranges from traditional to contemporary, often with musical instruments, as well as prayers in English and Hebrew. Our services are welcoming, inclusive and spiritually fulfilling, even if you have never been to a Jewish service before. Please join us to see for yourself!

Shabbat Evening Worship

Fridays, September through June - 7:30pm.
July and August - 6:30pm

As a congregation, we love to sing! Members and visitors of all ages engage in our prayers and music. In addition to worship, we often read from the Torah (the Penteteuch/Five Books of Moses), or discuss the weekly Torah portion. Congregation Shir Shalom members host an Oneg Shabbat after services, where all join together to eat some goodies and socialize.

Young Families First Friday Shabbat

First Friday of each month, September through June, 6 pm

This service is open to anyone and especially intended for young families or for those who wish to enjoy Shabbat dinner at home after the service. We sing many of the songs and prayers that are taught in our Early Childhood Center and Religious School.

Tot Shabbat 2.0

Second Friday each month, 5:30pm. Brief service followed by a Communal Shabbat Dinner

Especially for families with children under age 6, this brief musical service helps our youngest members become familiar with Jewish melodies and prayers. We sing many of the songs and prayers that are taught in our Early Childhood Center and Religious School. The brief service also includes a story, followed by a delicious Shabbat dinner and a supervised children’s activity so parents can talk and enjoy Shabbat together.
