Congregation Shir Shalom of Westchester and Fairfield Counties is located in Ridgefield, Connecticut approximately one mile from South Salem, New York. We are a union of Jewish Family Congregation of South Salem, NY and Temple Shearith Israel of Ridgefield, CT.

Every word in our new name was chosen for its special meaning - Congregation brings to mind our sense of community and place in the world; Shir (meaning Song) is a tribute to our love for music; and Shalom (Peace) is our hope for the world and each of our congregants. Of Westchester and Fairfield Counties confirms our commitment to serving the towns on both sides of our New York/Connecticut border. Our congregants live in Lewisboro, Bedford, Katonah, Pound Ridge, South Salem, Brewster, Waccabuc, Ridgefield, Redding, Wilton, Danbury, Georgetown, Westport and more.

Congregation Shir Shalom is warm and friendly. Our congregation connects people from diverse traditions and backgrounds who want to share a joyous spiritual and cultural experience. Our membership includes traditional and non-traditional Jews, interfaith, LGBTQ and multi-racial individuals and families of all ages. Though a Reform congregation, our congregants come from Reform, Conservative and Orthodox backgrounds or no religious background at all.

We seek to inspire our congregants to add meaning to their lives and make the world a better place. We are committed to creating a dynamic and innovative environment through worship, education, music, social action, and fun community events.

Our synagogue is housed in the beautiful Victorian mansion of the "Westmoreland" estate, originally owned by George Doubleday, former CEO of Ingersoll Rand. The facilities have been renovated and expanded over the years including the addition of our beautiful sanctuary, Pavilion and open-air terrace. The Pavilion and open-air terrace are beautiful spaces for life cycle events, holiday and school functions, as well as social and community activities. Our grounds include beautiful plantings, a playground and a vegetable garden cared for by our Early Childhood program.

For those seeking to learn more and experience our warmth, please explore our website and join us for a Shabbat service or visit our Religious School and Early Childhood Center. Contact our Rabbis, our Religious School Director or our Early Childhood Center Director and get to know us.

We look forward to welcoming you!
